Fair Season

Category: EventsKaren @ 06:00

Ahh, autumn. Colorful foliage, crisp evenings, football, and pumpkin-flavored everything. It's always difficult for me to bid summer goodbye, but once fall actually arrives, it's hard to deny its charms.

Highlights from TBEX 2013

Category: Destinations | EventsMegan Leader @ 06:02

This year, I represented travel42 at TBEX, the world's largest gathering of travel bloggers. At this conference, keynote speakers are major players in the travel industry, and breakout sessions cover a variety of topics relevant to travel professionals. I gained an incredible amount of information and met dozens of new friends and potential travel42 collaborators at TBEX in Toronto. If you've ever thought about attending TBEX for yourself, I highly recommend it. Here's why.

A double dose of "fair"-y fun

Category: Events | On The SceneChristine @ 04:06

When the fair comes to town, it almost always means the same thing no matter where you are: rides, games and lots (and lots) of food. I haven’t been to many fairs in my life, but in the past couple of weeks I attended two: the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and the Dixie Classic Fair. More...

Summer events in Amsterdam

Category: Destinations | EventsMegan Leader @ 09:58

We updated our Amsterdam calendar of events this week, and I must confess that, since then, I haven't been able to stop myself from daydreaming about strolling its cobblestoned streets along quiet canals on a summer evening. And with so many festivals, markets and events this summer, a vacation to Amsterdam would be especially exciting and vibrant. Here are a few of our favorite events coming up this summer (as if you needed more reasons to visit such a city so gorgeous as Amsterdam)!

Escape the dreary winter weather with these cheery, decidedly un-gloomy destinations!

Category: Destinations | EventsMegan Leader @ 11:13

Here in the Winston-Salem office, we're all ready to shake off the dull gloominess of winter and take a road trip to a sunny beach somewhere. Yesterday, Christine blogged about Miami, a perfect destination for outdoor activities and fabulous nightlife. If you're ready for warm weather like we are, you're in luck, because we've got a few more perfect destinations where you can trade your coat and winter boots for a sundress (or comparable warm-weather menswear) and flip-flops.

These LA tours make running fun! Paparazzi anyone?

One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to run a few miles in the local area while seeing the sights. You see so much more than you do in a car. In Chicago, for example, I love running down the Magnificent Mile to the lakefront, where there is a concrete pier that juts out onto the lake. You feel as if you are on the water as you run, and the view of the city as you come back is gorgeous, especially if you go at sunrise. More...
